SOUTHWELL HOUSE ~ NORFOLK |
|
In 1984 Southwell House, Walsingham in Norfolk was acquired to be a home for six boys who needed a permanent loving environment. The programme of activity in Southwell House was carefully planned to occupy, interest and amuse the boys and their general education was not overlooked. The minibus would take them to evening classes once or twice a week and at other times to Norwich or Kings Lynn for swimming or shopping. The boys from Anglican homes attended the parish church of St. Mary and the Roman Catholic boys, the Church of the Annunciation. There are also Methodist chapels and an Orthodox Church transformed from the old waiting room of the disused railway station.
In September 2002 The Sons transferred to another provider the service of caring at Southwell House. The residents continue to live there now under the care of Walsingham Community Homes who provide this service. The reason for this decision by the Trustees was to rationalise the facilities available to them and to concentrate their direct services in the more accessible areas to the Congregation.
